A lovely family based in Islington (N1) is seeking a warm, reliable and energetic French-speaking nanny (English-speaking also required) to care for their two children aged 4 and 6. This is a part-time, after-school position within walking distance of the children’s school and activities.

Children

• Two children aged 4 and 6

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 2:45pm – 6:45pm
• Approx. 20–25 hours per week
• During school holidays, hours may vary slightly depending on holiday clubs (e.g. collection at 4pm)
• Optional: Babysitting on Thursday evenings (6:45pm – approx. 10/11pm)
• Occasional ad hoc evening babysitting (depending on availability)

Salary

• £18 net per hour
• Approx. £22–£23 gross per hour

Role Overview

The nanny will be responsible for school pick-ups, after-school activities and ensuring a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. The role includes supporting the children’s French language development through daily interaction and engaging activities.

Main Responsibilities

• Collect the children from school (located next to the family home)
• Take them to after-school activities 2–3 times per week (swimming, ballet and music – within 10–20 minutes walking distance or a short bus ride)
• Prepare vegetarian snacks and meals
• Plan and lead fun, educational and creative activities suited to their age and development
• Provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
• Support and encourage French language development through daily conversation and activities

Nanny Duties

• After-school supervision
• Activity planning
• Meal and snack preparation (vegetarian)
• Supporting routines
• Ensuring children’s wellbeing and safety at all times

Child-related Housekeeping

• Keeping children’s areas tidy
• Washing up after meals prepared for the children
• Organising school bags and activity items

Requirements

• Fluent French speaker with good English
• Proven childcare experience with young children (attitude and personality are more important than length of experience)
• Clean DBS / police check
• Valid First Aid certification
• Proactive, caring, flexible and enthusiastic
