A family based in Kensington is looking for an experienced French-speaking rota nanny to care for their two children, aged 1 and 5.

This is a long-term, live-in rota position, working one week on / one week off. The role will be shared care with the mother, and the family is looking for someone energetic, adaptable and comfortable working as part of a small household team.

The children do not currently speak French and have never had a French-speaking nanny. The family would like to gradually introduce French as an additional language through everyday interaction, play and activities.

Role Overview

This is a shared-care position working alongside the mother.

The nanny will support the children’s daily routines, development and activities while naturally introducing the French language into their everyday lives.

The family travels regularly, so the nanny must be comfortable travelling internationally when required.

The household is fully staffed, with a driver, cook and housekeeper, and the nanny must be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a small team.

Main Responsibilities

Shared care with the mother.
Supporting both children’s daily routines.
Providing engaging and age-appropriate activities.
Introducing French naturally through play and conversation.
Supporting the children’s development and independence.
Travelling with the family when required.
Working collaboratively with other household staff.

Nanny Duties

Caring for both children during working hours.
Supporting meals, naps and bedtime routines.
Planning educational and creative activities.
Reading, singing and playing in French.
Encouraging gradual exposure to the French language.
Taking the children to activities and outings.
Supporting the 1-year-old’s developmental milestones.
Supporting the 5-year-old’s learning and interests.
Preparing the children for outings and activities.
Keeping parents informed about the children’s day.

Child-Related Housekeeping

Keeping children’s bedrooms and play areas organised.
Organising toys, books and children’s belongings.
Tidying after children’s meals and activities.
Preparing children’s belongings for outings and travel.
Child-related duties only.
No deep cleaning.

Requirements

Fluent French speaker.
Good level of English.
Previous professional nanny experience.
Experience with babies and school-aged children.
Previous rota or staffed-household experience would be an advantage.
Energetic and proactive.
Flexible and adaptable.
Confident working in a shared-care environment.
Able to work collaboratively with household staff.
Comfortable travelling internationally.
Able to commit to a long-term position.
