A family based in Chelsea SW10 is looking for an experienced French-speaking nanny to care for their 2-year-old daughter. The family is looking for someone proactive, reliable and confident with toddlers, with strong experience in early years development and toddler care.

The family may have a second child in 2027, so previous experience with newborns and the ability to manage two children would be a strong advantage.

Working Hours

Term time: Monday to Thursday: 11:30am to 7:30pm
Friday: 11:30am to 6:30pm

Term-time hours: 40 hours per week

School holidays:
Monday to Thursday: 7:45am to 7:30pm
Friday: 7:45am to 6:30pm

School holiday hours: 57.75 hours per week

The contract will be annualised and paid evenly throughout the year, based on an average of 44 hours per week.

The candidate must be willing to increase to approximately 58 hours per week in 2027 if/when the second child arrives, with the salary adjusted accordingly based on £19–£21 gross per hour (£57,304 – £63,336 gross per year).


Salary

£19 to £21 gross per hour

Based on an annualised contract of 44 hours per week.

Weekly gross salary:
£836 – £924 gross per week

Estimated annual gross salary:
£43,472 – £48,048 gross per year

Role Overview

The nanny will be responsible for the daily care, development and routine of a 2-year-old girl.

The role includes supporting her independence, French language development and emotional development. The nanny should be confident planning age-appropriate activities and maintaining a clear, consistent routine.

The family lives on the third floor with no lift. The buggy will be stored on the ground floor in a storage area.

The family may have a second child in 2027, so they are looking for someone confident with newborns and able to manage two children. The candidate must be willing to increase to approximately 58 hours per week if/when the second child arrives.


Main Responsibilities

Nanny Duties

  • Sole charge care of the child
  • Supporting the child’s daily routine
  • Planning age-appropriate activities
  • Supporting French language development
  • Encouraging independence
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the child
  • Organising outings, playgroups and activities
  • Supporting nap and rest routines
  • Bath and evening routine when required
  • Keeping parents updated on the child’s day
  • Supporting emotional development
  • Setting clear and age-appropriate boundaries
  • Creating a safe and stimulating environment

Maternity / Newborn Duties

Experience with newborns would be a strong plus, as the family may have a second child in 2027.

  • Confident with babies and newborn routines
  • Able to support the family with a second child in the future
  • Confident managing two children
  • Understanding of baby feeding, sleep and developmental stages
  • Able to adapt the routine around both children’s needs

Child-related Housekeeping

  • Keeping the child’s areas tidy
  • Tidying toys and play areas
  • Child’s laundry
  • Keeping the child’s bedroom organised
  • Cleaning up after meals and activities
  • Preparing and cleaning bottles/cups if needed
  • Maintaining the child’s changing/changing bag areas

No deep cleaning.
Housekeeping is limited to child-related duties only.


Requirements

  • Fluent French speaker
  • Bonus if Dutch speaker
  • Previous experience as a nanny in private households
  • Strong toddler experience
  • Newborn experience required
  • Confident managing two children
  • Must be willing to increase to approximately 58 hours per week in 2027 if/when the second child arrives
  • Minimum 4 years’ childcare experience preferred
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Enhanced DBS check, ideally recent or on the Update Service
  • Excellent, checkable references
  • Reliable, organised and proactive
  • Comfortable working in a home on the third floor with no lift
  • Flexible during school holidays
