A family based in Chiswick, W4, is looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person to support their two school-aged children.

As the children are becoming more independent, this is not a traditional nanny role. The family is seeking someone who can provide a responsible presence at home, help afternoons run smoothly and encourage independence.

Children

• One boy aged 12.
• One girl aged 9.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
3:00pm to 7:00pm
20 hours per week

Additional hours may be available during school holidays, typically Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm.

Occasional paid evening babysitting may also be offered.

Salary

£19–£22 gross per hour

• £380–£440 gross per week, based on 20 hours.
• Additional hours paid separately.

Role Overview

The role focuses on supporting the children with their after-school routines, homework and general organisation while encouraging them to become increasingly independent.

The 12-year-old returns home independently by school bus. The 9-year-old requires collection from school, approximately 25 minutes on foot or two stops by tube.

The family welcomes applicants from different backgrounds and does not require someone who has worked exclusively as a professional nanny.

Main Responsibilities

After-School and Childcare Duties

• Collect the 9-year-old from school.
• Occasionally accompany the children to activities.
• Provide a responsible and supportive presence at home.
• Supervise and assist with homework in English.
• Check that homework is completed.
• Prepare snacks and simple meals.
• Help the children stay organised.
• Support daily afternoon routines.
• Encourage independence and age-appropriate responsibilities.
• Ensure the children’s safety and wellbeing.

Child-related Housekeeping

• Wash, fold and put away the children’s laundry.
• Keep the children’s bedrooms and personal areas tidy.
• Tidy up after snacks and meals.
• Encourage the children to organise their belongings.

Housekeeping duties are limited to the children. No deep cleaning is required.

Requirements

• Good command of English for homework support.
• Previous experience with children preferred.
• Applications welcome from experienced nannies, teachers, teaching assistants, students and candidates with relevant experience.
